Artist-in-Residence Visits T-DubThe Art Department enjoyed the expertise of glass artist Linda Steider on campus Wednesday December 10. Under Linda's guidance, students cut colored glass of various shapes and sizes, designed their pieces into pendants, then fired them in the kiln, which fuses the glass pieces into beautiful jewelry. This program is part of an Oregon Cultural Grant called The Glass Quilt. The photos above from right to left show: Artist-in-Residence, Linda Steider; students working on their projects; several student projects waiting to be fired. Sister Cities Student Delegation to JapanNext summer, students in Wasco County will have another opportunity to travel with The Dalles Sister Ciities Association Student Delegation to Miyoshi City, Japan. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible for the program. Students will stay wth host families and experience first-had the gracious and welcoming culture of the Japanese people. Previous student delegates have described their trip to Japan as "life changing" and no students return untouched by their experiences. Students are expected to carry the cost of travel and incidental expenses. Lodging and meals will be provided by host families. Language and cultural training will be provided before the trip.
